Easy and Useful Tricks to Find out Information using Google

Google has a lot of search operators using which we can control easily the search result of our desired information. But it is very difficult to memorize all the operators. So in this post I will share about the most helpful and commonly used search tricks with you.

I think that you will find out your desired information easily using these tricks.

At first let's see the common syntax of google search operator. It is

Operator:parameter

NB: Please do not give space in any side of the colon(:) symbol. Also keep in mind that the search operators are case sensitive.

#site:
This operator is very helpful to find out information in any particular website or its sub-domain.

Example 1: ponting site:cricinfo.com this search will return all the web pages on ponting only from cricinfo.com and all its sub-domains.
Example 2: Thesis site:edu this search will show you the search result on Thesis from the web domain of educational institutions.

#filetype:
Using this operator you can find out any kind of presentation slide easily from Internet.

Example 1: Artificial Intelligence filetype:ppt this search will return all the power point slides on artificial intelligence.
Example 2: Artificial Intelligence filetype:pdf this search will return all the pages with pdf files on artificial intelligence.
Example 3: Artificial Intelligence filetype:pdf site:edu this search will return all the pages with pdf files on artificial intelligence from the domains of educational institutions.

#inurl:
Using this operator you can get websites where the search item resides into the url.

Example 1: inurl:bangla this search will return all the websites have the word bangla into their url.
Example 2: inurl:program filetype:java this search will return java source file where the word program is in the url.

NB: You can also use allinurl operator where you will be able to search more than one keyword in a url.

Example: allinurl:bangla story

#intitle:
It will be very helpful for you if you want to find a very common word in the page title.
Example 1: intitle:hacking this word will return webpages with such documents the title of which includes the word hacking.
Example 2: intitle:hacking filetype:pdf this search will return webpages with pdf file including hacking.

NB: You can also use allintitle operator to find out more than one word in the title.

Example: allintitle:hacking virus filetype:pdf

#define:
This search operator will be very helpful if you want to use the google search as dictionary. In the internet there are many dictionary sites, but this option of google is more powerful than those.

Example 1: define:hacker this search will return such webpages where the meaning of the word hacker is explained.
Example 2: define:network security this search will return such webpages where the meaning of network security is explained.

NB: You can not type anything before the word define. You can not also use define with other operator like before.

#OR:
You can use this operator if you want to merge few search results together. Google uses AND search technique automatically for some keywords. But sometimes it may be very important for OR search.

Example 1: hacking filetype:pdf OR filetype:doc this search will help you to find out both kinds of file on hacking
Example 2: car site:en.wikipedia.org OR site:howstuffworks.com this search will only be operated on these two sites to find out information about car.

NB: OR must be capitalized and you can not use colon(:) after it.

This is all. I hope that all the information I provided you in the above will help you to find any kind of information from the Internet through google search.
